Tony Langdon

Former Assistant Commissioner for Victoria Police with over 42 years experience.  As a Regional Assistant Commission, Tony led more than 3,300 staff over a three-year tenure, overseeing service delivery, ethical and cultural leadership, and community safety outcomes across both rural and metropolitan Victoria. A committed advocate for leadership development, he continues to mentor senior members of Victoria Police and leaders across other industries.

Across a distinguished 44-year policing career, he has amassed extensive operational and executive experience, including major crime investigation (Armed Robbery and Homicide), tactical policing (Special Operations Group), and senior management roles within the covert surveillance environment and regional commands. Renowned for his ability to harness collective expertise, he has driven innovative policing strategies and successfully led the implementation of complex, large-scale projects.

A strategic and people-focused leader, he has provided trusted and persuasive advice to government and Victoria Police Executive Command during some of the state’s most critical emergency events. His leadership has been pivotal in commanding responses to high-pressure events including terrorism-related operations, the COVID-19 State Border Closures, the 2019–2020 Victorian Fires, and the 2022 Victorian Floods.

He is a graduate of the Netherlands Police International Leadership Group Program and holds a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management, alongside other executive leadership qualifications. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director on the board of a publicly listed company for three years.

Outside of his professional commitments, he maintains an active lifestyle, enjoying cycling, trekking, and gym training with his wife and friends.
