John Osibote

John has 30 years of extensive policing experience, including 24 years as a detective. 

He is a distinguished senior law enforcement professional with a wealth of expertise in major crime investigations, economic crime, forensic services management, intelligence management and covert policing. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership, investigative acumen, and strategic decision-making in some of the most sensitive and high-pressure environments.

He has led critical teams responsible for national security, intelligence management, and organised crime mitigation. Within Covert Policing, John oversaw the authorisation and execution of highly sensitive operations, ensuring compliance with stringent legal frameworks while safeguarding officers and confidential sources. His tenure as Director of Intelligence saw him lead in the development of collaborative intelligence strategies, and enhancing law enforcement capabilities in tackling serious crime, including the County Lines drug trafficking phenomenon.

John’s expertise extends to major crime and criminal justice, where he directed complex investigations, led homicide cases, and streamlined prosecution processes in collaboration with the Crown Prosecution Service. Earlier in his career, as a fledgling detective he was involved in national enquiries, as he progressed he spearheaded national fraud prevention initiatives, leading transformative change and significant prevention of financial losses to the banking industry.

 Committed to professional excellence, John holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and has undertaken extensive training across specialist policing disciplines, from intelligence management to covert human intelligence operations. His contributions have been recognised through multiple commendations for professionalism, dedication, bravery, and investigative leadership.

John is a husband and father. He enjoys travel and still plays rugby. He is involved in various charitable organisations and is an active board member of a police children's charity.
