Member Spotlight: Ian Hackett

With 33 years of policing experience across Hong Kong and the UK, Ian Hackett is a highly skilled leader in firearms operations, public safety, and emerging security technologies. Beginning his career with the Royal Hong Kong Police, Ian later served in key roles within Thames Valley Police and the Metropolitan Police, where he commanded major public order events, including the London 2012 Olympic Games and high-profile football matches.

As a Tactical and Strategic Firearms Commander, Ian led counterterrorism and high-risk armed operations, including responses to the 2017 London Marauding Terrorist Attack. He played a crucial role in the national rollout of Body-Worn Video (BWV) technology, shaping UK policy and advising international law enforcement agencies. His expertise also extends to Aviation Policing, where he spearheaded counter-drone systems at Heathrow Airport and represented the UK in global security forums.
