Member Spotlight: Michael ‘Mick’ Willing APM

With over three decades in policing, national security, and the private sector, Michael Willing APM GAICD is one of Australia’s most accomplished public safety leaders. During his 31 years with the NSW Police Force, he served as the longest-serving Homicide Squad Commander, led Counter Terrorism & Special Tactics Command, and oversaw Regional NSW Field Operations, managing over 5,800 personnel. He also played a critical role in leading NSW’s bushfire recovery efforts, coordinating a large-scale, multi-agency response.

Beyond policing, Mick drove national security and public safety innovation as Managing Director at Accenture ANZ, working closely with government and industry to enhance emergency response capabilities.

Now, as CEO of Fortem Australia and founder of The Peelian Group, he continues his mission to support first responders, strengthen resilience, and mentor the next generation of leaders.

Mick is one of the world-class experts who have joined forces under the Global Consortium Group (GCG)—a groundbreaking collective of elite public safety professionals from across the globe brought together to provide high-level public safety consultancy to organisations worldwide.

For the first time, governments, agencies, and private-sector organisations have direct access to an unmatched network of leaders who have shaped public safety at the highest levels across the globe, helping them strengthen operations and keep communities safe.

Glad to have you on board Mick!
