Member Spotlight: Peter Dein

With over four decades in law enforcement, including 20 years in executive command, Peter Dein is a leader in counterterrorism, serious crime investigations, and national security strategy. As an Assistant Commissioner with the NSW Police Force, he played a key role in establishing Australia’s largest Joint Counter Terrorism Team, working with the Australian Federal Police, ASIO, and the NSW Crime Commission. He also led the state's serious and organised crime squads, overseeing major investigations into high-risk threats.

Following his policing career, Peter was appointed Assistant Commissioner at the NSW Crime Commission, where he continued his work in dismantling serious and organised crime networks. He has contributed extensively to counterterrorism policy and training, served as a trusted advisor to government, and remains a key figure in international CT leadership training. Recognised for his distinguished service, Peter was awarded the Australian Police Medal.
